Abstract

If we understand that the mission of our church is evangelization and not culturization, we need to take concepts of the native peoples without falling into syncretism, the mission in these terms would be to achieve that a native can be completely Adventist without losing his cultural identity. This article analyzes 3 forms of evangelization, 1) the evangelism of the conquest, which was carried out under the concept of acculturation, where the culture of the natives was ignored and discarded and the European Christian culture was imposed on them, 2) transculturation, where part of their culture was taken and covered with Christianity producing a syncretic religion, 3) our proposal is interculturality, where we propose to maintain cultural aspects that do not go against the biblical principles and replace those that harmonize with the word of God.
